InnerFrontier is a reflective companion, grounded in counselling psychology, and currently in private testing. During this phase the data controller is Amogh Chitkara, the founder, acting as an individual. When the operating company is incorporated it will be named here, and this policy will pass to it unchanged. This policy forms part of our Terms, and the two are written to agree.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at privacy@innerfrontier.uk. hello@innerfrontier.uk reaches the same person.
Your account. Your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
What you write. What you say when you arrive, your conversations with your companion, your answers to the world, and anything you keep, such as Memory Palace entries and letters.
The world’s reading of you. Numbers on twelve dimensions, such as depth of engagement and reflective capacity, worked out from what you write. It is a reading, not a diagnosis or a clinical assessment, and it can be wrong. You can see what the world makes of you, and tell it when it is wrong.
How you use the world. When you visit and for how long, so the world can hold time honestly.
Rhythm, only if you use it. An optional feature reads a pulse signal through your device camera. It runs only when you start it and agree at that moment. The signal is processed on your device, and only summary measures are sent to us, never video or images.
Support messages. If you write through the support door, your message is emailed to the founder with your account email, so that a reply is possible.
On your device. Settings and continuity are kept in your browser’s local storage. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
We do not collect your real name, phone number, address, payment details, location, contacts, or data from other apps.
We record how much time you spend on each part of the platform, never what you do or write there, so we can understand what is useful and improve it.
Much of what you share reflects your inner life, and heart-rate measures are health data. The law treats both as special category data. We use them only with your explicit consent: for what you write, the consent you give by ticking the first box before you enter; for rhythm, the consent you give each time you start it. You can withdraw the first by closing your account, and the second simply by not using the feature.
To respond to you. What you share is how the world and your companion respond to you, remember you, and grow with you.
To keep you safe. If the platform notices signs that you may be at risk, it points you to real help. In some cases it also alerts the founder, who is a registered counsellor, so that a person can check in. Those alerts say only that a signal fired, and when. They never include what you wrote.
To improve the service. We look at patterns across the platform as a whole. We do not read an individual’s writing for this purpose.
To improve InnerFrontier’s own AI. This is on unless you switch it off, which you can do before you enter or at any time in Settings. While it is on, your words may be used with your name, email and other direct identifiers removed. We call this de-identified rather than anonymous, because the platform can recognise how a person writes, so writing is never truly anonymous. If you switch it off, your words are removed from training from that point on.
Hosting. Our servers are in the United Kingdom and the European Union.
AI providers. During the first year, part of the world’s intelligence runs on models provided by third parties, used only on commercial terms that prohibit them from training on your content. We will name them on request.
Email delivery. A delivery service sends the emails we send you, and carries safety alerts and support messages to the founder.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else, and there is no advertising.
Your data is stored in the United Kingdom and the European Union. If you use InnerFrontier from elsewhere, including India or Australia, it is transferred there to run the service. During private testing, the service is not offered to, or marketed in, the European Union.
Everything travels over encrypted connections, and access to our database is restricted. Some of what you write is also encrypted before it is stored: Memory Palace entries, what you write when you arrive, and your answers to the world. We are extending this to everything you write. Until that is complete, the rest is protected by access controls and by encryption in transit.
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. To delete your account and everything it holds, write to privacy@innerfrontier.uk, and we will delete it within 30 days, including backups. A small number of records are kept in a tamper-evident chain, so that the platform’s history cannot be quietly rewritten. Those are not removed; they are made permanently unreadable, by destroying the key that could open them.
You can see what we hold about you, correct it, export it, ask us to delete it, withdraw your consent, and object to how we use it. Export is available in the Ledger. For anything else, write to privacy@innerfrontier.uk, and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are in the UK and unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in India or Australia, the rights set out in section 11 of our Terms apply as well.
InnerFrontier is for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete what it holds.
InnerFrontier is not therapy, counselling, or a medical or crisis service, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. If you are in crisis or in danger, please contact emergency services or a crisis line. In the UK: 999, or Samaritans on 116 123. In India: 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416. In Australia: 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with its date, and tell account holders by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, as our Terms describe. If anything you consented to changes, we will ask for your consent again rather than assume it.
